Ameesha Patel on replacing Priyanka Chopra in Humraaz

Speaking about replacing actors in the industry, Ameesha Patel said, “I don’t think it’s the world [that decides], also because the audience never really writes anyone off, you know. The audience just likes a good film or a bad film. They love you, but you need to land a good film. But it’s just the way the industry works, and at the end of the day, good cinema matters. I have also replaced someone, you know.”

She added, “In fact, even in Humraaz, I replaced Priyanka Chopra and things like that. So, it all works out in the end, you know—life comes full circle. And life is a great leveller. I truly believe that. I have been part of some of the biggest, most iconic films in the industry, so what more can I ask for? You know, there is nothing I regret.”

Ameesha Patel was the highest-paid actress in Humraaz

When asked if she was the highest-paid actor from the cast of Humrraz, Ameesha answered, “Well, that’s what I heard, but I don’t want to go into that because that was not the criteria to which I agreed to do the film. I didn’t even know what I was going to charge or what I was going to be paid. When I heard the subject, I heard it completely organically and candidly as an actor—whether I wanted to be part of the film or not.”

She concluded, “And it was my privilege to get such a film with Venus Films, with Abbas-Mustan, with a fantastic script, with a fantastic set of co-actors like Bobby and Akshay, with great music by Himesh, and with beautiful locations. The paycheck was secondary, so I never even gave it a minute’s thought, you know.”
